Woodland change in the UK

Professor Nick Branch is a Quaternary Palaeoecology expert at the University of Reading’s Department of Geography and Environmental Science, where he also serves as School Director for Recruitment and Admissions. His research focuses on past climate and environmental change, especially during the Late Pleistocene and Holocene in regions such as the Peruvian Andes, Italy and the UK. Nick combines archaeological, environmental and palaeoecological methods to study how humans and ecosystems responded to climate variability, including impacts on traditional agriculture and resilience. He supervises undergraduate, master’s and PhD research on human-environment interactions and sustainable food production.
