Owain Glyndŵr’s Rebellion
Owain Glyndŵr’s rebellion was a major Welsh uprising against English rule in the early 15th century. Beginning in 1400, Glyndŵr declared himself Prince of Wales and led a determined campaign to restore Welsh independence. Supported by Welsh nobles, soldiers, and foreign allies, his forces captured castles and challenged English authority across Wales. The rebellion became a symbol of national identity, resistance, and political ambition. Although ultimately suppressed by the English Crown, Glyndŵr’s leadership inspired generations of Welsh people. Today, he remains a national hero and one of the most important figures in the history of medieval Wales.
