Norman Warrior’s Armor
Norman warrior’s armor was designed for mobility, protection, and battlefield efficiency during the 11th century. The typical knight wore a long chainmail hauberk, a conical helmet with a nasal guard, and carried a kite-shaped shield for added defense. This equipment played a decisive role in conflicts such as the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Mail armor provided flexibility while protecting against sword strikes and arrows. Weapons commonly included swords, spears, and lances. Norman military organization and superior cavalry tactics, combined with effective armor, helped them establish dominance across England and parts of Europe during the medieval period.
