Medieval Armour

Medieval armour was designed to protect warriors during battles, tournaments, and sieges. Early medieval soldiers commonly wore padded garments, leather protection, helmets, and chainmail made from linked iron rings. From the fourteenth century, plate armour gradually developed, covering the chest, arms, legs, and eventually the entire body. A complete suit was carefully shaped to allow movement while defending against swords, arrows, lances, and other weapons. Knights often decorated their armour with heraldic symbols showing family identity and rank.
