Gnaeus Julius Agricola

Gnaeus Julius Agricola was a prominent Roman commander who played a major role in the Roman conquest of Britain during the first century AD. Serving as governor from AD 77 to 85 under Emperor Domitian, Agricola led successful military campaigns that expanded Roman control deep into what is now Scotland. His achievements were later recorded by his son-in-law, the historian Tacitus. Agricola is remembered for his military leadership, strategic skill, and efforts to introduce Roman culture, infrastructure, and administration to the provinces of Britain.
