Commius is a King of the Atrebates

Commius was a king of the Atrebates, a Gallic tribe, and later an important ruler in Britain during the late Iron Age. First appointed by Julius Caesar as an ally, he played a diplomatic and military role in Caesar’s campaigns in Gaul and Britain. Although initially loyal to Rome, Commius later joined the Gallic resistance against Roman rule. After conflict with the Romans, he fled to Britain, where he established or strengthened an Atrebatic kingdom centered at Calleva, modern Silchester. Commius became a symbol of political adaptability, leadership, and survival during a period of conquest, rebellion, and cultural transformation.
