Callanish Sacred Stones
The Callanish Sacred Stones are one of Scotland’s most remarkable prehistoric monuments, located on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Built around 3000 BC, the stone circle is older than Stonehenge and is believed to have been used for religious ceremonies, astronomical observations, and seasonal rituals. The site consists of a central stone circle with standing stones arranged in a cross-shaped pattern. Many legends and myths surround the monument, adding to its mystery and cultural significance.
