British Later Prehistory
British Later Prehistory refers to the period from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age, roughly 2500 BC to the Roman conquest. During this time, communities across Britain developed advanced metalworking skills, social hierarchies, and distinctive artistic traditions. Farming expanded, settlements became more permanent, and hillforts were constructed for defense and power. Trade networks connected Britain with continental Europe, bringing new ideas and materials. Religious beliefs were closely linked to nature, ancestors, and ritual landscapes. Archaeological evidence from tools, weapons, burials, and monuments helps historians understand daily life, conflict, and cultural identity in prehistoric Britain.
