British Fairies - legendary places
British fairies, often called the Fair Folk, Good Neighbours, or People of Peace, belong to a living tapestry of belief that threads through England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man. Neither angels nor demons, they occupy a liminal space between the human and the otherworldly, associated with thresholds: dusk and dawn, solstices and Samhain, river mouths, moors, barrows, standing stones, and lonely crossroads. Long before printed folklore, country people left cream on the hearth for helpful brownies, avoided disturbing “fairy rings” of mushrooms, and carried iron, bread, or salt as quiet protections against mischief.
