Ancient Roman Clothes

Ancient Roman clothes reflected social status, gender, and occupation within the society of the Roman Empire. The most iconic garment was the toga, worn by male Roman citizens during public and official occasions. Everyday clothing for men and women included the tunic, usually made of wool or linen. Roman women often wore the stola and palla, symbolizing respectability and family status. Clothing colors, decorations, and materials indicated wealth and rank. Soldiers wore practical armor and cloaks, while slaves dressed simply. Roman clothing combined practicality with symbolism, expressing identity, tradition, and power.
