Sandsfoot Castle

Sandsfoot Castle is a historic coastal fort overlooking Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour. Built in the 16th century by order of King Henry VIII, it formed part of England’s coastal defence system. Although now partially ruined, the castle remains an impressive landmark with thick stone walls and dramatic sea views. Surrounding Sandsfoot Gardens add to its appeal, offering colourful flowerbeds and scenic walking paths. Today, visitors can explore the remains, enjoy panoramic coastal scenery, and learn about Tudor military history in a peaceful and picturesque setting by the sea.
