Roman Wroxeter

Roman Wroxeter, located near Shrewsbury in Shropshire, is one of the most impressive and well-preserved Roman archaeological sites in Britain. Known in Roman times as Viroconium Cornoviorum, it was the fourth largest city in Roman Britain and served as a thriving administrative and military hub. Visitors can explore fascinating ruins, including the imposing remains of a bathhouse, a basilica, and sections of the city wall. The site also features a reconstructed Roman townhouse, offering a vivid glimpse into daily life during the Roman era.
