Nunney Castle

Nunney Castle is a medieval moated castle located in Somerset, England. Built in the fourteenth century by Sir John Delamare, it reflects both defensive architecture and the social ambitions of the late medieval gentry. The castle is notable for its compact rectangular plan, round corner towers, thick stone walls, and surrounding moat, which created a strong visual impression of power and status. Although damaged during the English Civil War, its surviving ruins provide valuable evidence of military design, aristocratic residence, and regional history.
