Montacute House

Montacute House is a historic Elizabethan mansion located in Somerset, England. Built at the end of the sixteenth century, it is one of the finest examples of late Tudor architecture in the country. The house is notable for its symmetrical façade, large mullioned windows, decorative stonework, and impressive Long Gallery. Its design reflects the wealth, status, and cultural ambitions of the Phelips family. The surrounding gardens and estate landscape further demonstrate the relationship between elite residence and planned environment. Today, Montacute House is significant for the study of architecture, social hierarchy, domestic life, and heritage conservation in early modern England.
