Millenium Stones
The Millennium Stones in Somerset are a modern commemorative stone monument created to mark the year 2000. Although not prehistoric, the stones draw on the visual language of ancient megalithic monuments and reflect continuing cultural interest in landscape, memory, and symbolic place-making. Their arrangement connects contemporary public art with older traditions of standing stones and ceremonial landscapes in south-west England. The site is significant for understanding how modern communities reinterpret ancient forms to express identity, continuity, and collective memory. Today, the Millennium Stones are valued as a local landmark and as an example of modern heritage practice.
