Kit's Coty House

Kit’s Coty House is a significant Neolithic megalithic monument located near Aylesford in Kent, England. Dating from approximately 4000–3600 BCE, it is believed to have formed part of a long barrow used for funerary and ritual purposes. The surviving structure consists of large sarsen stones arranged as a burial chamber, with an imposing horizontal capstone supported by upright slabs. Although much of the original mound has disappeared, the monument remains an important archaeological source for understanding early prehistoric communities, their burial practices, and their construction techniques. Today, Kit’s Coty House is protected as a heritage site of national importance.
