Kendal Castle

Kendal Castle is a historic ruined fortress situated on a hill overlooking the town of Kendal in Cumbria, England. Built in the 12th century, it was originally a motte-and-bailey castle later developed into a stone stronghold. It became the home of the powerful Parr family, including Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of Henry VIII. The castle played an important defensive role but gradually fell into decline by the 16th century.
